If i could go anywhere for a short period of time it would be to British Columbia because they have the best mountain biking in all of Canada. That way i would have a better chance of getting sponsored because it's a more popular sport over there. I would want to go there to get away from all the stress due to school and life. I think that going on that trip and being able to do something I've always wanted to do would give me a better outlook on things.

Phony!

According to Holden a phony is someone who talks and acts different than they actually are. I think that Holden is a phony himself because of some of the things he says and does. In the novel he acts tough towards Maurice but when Maurice actually hits him he doesn't even fight back he ends up crying when Maurice takes his 5 dollars and leaves. This shows that he isn't as tough as he was trying to make himself seem. Due to Holden's illness he doesn't know how to act so sometimes he does some things that make him seem phony.

What does it mean to be a pushover and what does it mean to be kind?

If someone was a pushover they would do anything that someone asks them to do. In the book Holden is somewhat of a pushover because when Staderlater asks him to write his english paper he does it. When Stradlater got home he got mad at Holden because he wrote the paper on a baseball glove when he wanted to him to write it on something else. He thought it was stupid of Holden when he decided to write it on that.
If you were to be a kind person you would do whatever for any of your friends or family. With how Stradlater asked (well in a way told him) to write his english paper he was taking advantage of Holden. Holden was being nice to do it for him. Even though Holden mostly talks about everyone be a phony, he still is a nice person to his friends when he wants to be. Holden also asked Ackley to go to the movies with him becasue he wasnt doing anything that night, but they didnt end up going and just played video games instead. This was nice that Holden did this because if he didnt, Ackely would have just stayed in his dorm that night and done nothing.

What does it mean to be a good person?
To be a good person you should be true to them selves their friends and family. Also to be a good person you want to be kind to others, helping if they are in a difficult situation, understanding peoples problems and being loving. Being a good person is helping out someone that is in need of help, if they lost something help them find it. Be loyal to them and to yourself. So far in the catcher in the rye, he isnt really a good person except the fact he went to visit his teacher before he left the school. It was nice of him to be there and to be talking to his teacher, but in the end when he was close to leaving he was getting annoyed with his teacher.
